Questions parents ask

What is Read with Lark?

A reading fluency coach for a parent and child to use together, ten minutes a day, built for children who read slowly.

You will be able to see your child's reading improve, in numbers, measured against nobody but themselves.

Who is it for?

Parents of children who are starting to read, reading below grade level, or on the spectrum, who want to improve reading speed and accuracy.

What is it not?

Not a diagnosis. Not a replacement for a reading specialist. Not a library. Not a game. Not a tutor.

How long is a read?

About ten minutes, with the parent in the room. The child reads one short passage aloud. The timer may be visible.

What does a parent see after a read?

Words correct per minute and accuracy, compared with that child's own earlier reads. The next passage is chosen from that result by a fixed set of rules, not by a chat model.

Does volume or clarity change the score?

No. Volume and clarity are a separate note. They never change words correct per minute or accuracy.

Is my child compared with a class?

No. The chart is the child against their own history. Grade norms exist behind a disclosure the parent opens. No percentile is shown to a child, and families are not compared.

Why is it called Read with Lark?

The full name is the product name. The three words say a parent is with the child. The title does not name a difficulty.

Does my child get a login?

No. The parent holds the account. A child does not get an email or a password.

Where does my child's recording go?

Child audio and transcripts are never sent to a free-tier or no-DPA AI endpoint. We do not use child audio to train a model. On the free plan, the recording is not kept after the transcript and the scores are made.

Are reading aids only on a paid plan?

No. Type, spacing, paper colour, and the other reading aids are on every tier, including Free.
