Why is it called Read with Lark?
Read with Lark is the product name. The full phrase is intentional. Lark alone collides with Lark Health and with ByteDance Lark, and a bare bird name was already taken by other reading and parenting products. The earlier working title, ReadRight, collides with Read Right, an established reading program, so it was dropped.
A lark is a small bird with a large voice: it sings in flight, longer than birds many times its size. The product is for a child whose difficulty is pace and voice. The name is your voice carries, not you are behind. A lark is also something done for pleasure, which sets practice against worksheets and a nightly reading log. Larks sing at dawn; reading in this app happens at the edge of the day, before school or before bed.
The three words also say the model: a parent is with the child. The mark is a lark in upward flight, beak open, a static eye. It is not a mascot and it does not speak.
Words the name refuses: no dys, no fluent, no smart, no clinical term, no achievement term. A child reading below grade level already knows. The app should not put that on the title they see.
